The new Audi A3 interiors will see design inspiration from the Q3 and will come in seven versions.

Lately, Audi has been focusing on their E-Tron models and improving the portfolio such that they delayed the 2020 Audi A3. One more reason for the delay was the fallout from diesel emission scandals but not anymore since the new A3 has been reworked extensively and will provide an advanced level of refinement.

The 2020 Audi A3 is based on the MQB II Platform which offers a wider range of both mild and plug-in hybrid powertrain. The new A3 uses aluminium and steel architecture which is lighter, provides a robust structure and mainly focuses on the reduction of noise and vibrations than the ongoing model.

Initially, the A3 will be made in five-door hatchback and four-door sedan only. The reports also suggest that the three-door Audi A3 might get discontinued owing to poor sales. That said, the cabriolet A3 available in the Indian market will disappear too.

Dimensions wise, the new A3 will be available in different body styles. And the wheelbase will increase for every model hinting that the cabin will be roomier than before.

The interiors of the 2020 Audi A3 will borrow its design from the second-gen Q3 and will use similar connectivity features like e-SIM embed which tells you the real-time navigation from the maps.

Audi also plans to introduce a high road all-road model which will get distinguished grille, front and rear bumpers, chassis tuned around all-season tyres and wheel arch cladding. This particular trim will rival with the likes of Mercedes GLA and will sit below the Audi Q3.

Audi also plans to introduce a five-door A3 liftback which will directly rival to the Mercedes CLA. However, that plan is delayed until 2021 because of the full engineering capacity at Audi.

Audi engine specifications will include turbocharged petrol, diesel and even CNG engines. Transmission options stick to 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Most of the models will use the front-wheel-drive and the four-wheel-drive Quattro will stick to Audi A3 Allroad.

The petrol engine will make 130 bhp and 150 bhp using Volkswagen’s Group 1.5-cylinder turbocharged unit along with A 2.0-litre unit producing 190 bhp. A 48V electric architecture and electric boosting to increase fuel efficiency will be featured on both the petrol engine.

The diesel engine also sees popularity in the Audi A3 line up and the new model will sport three versions of VW’s Euro 6d-Temp turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engines. The power outputs for the same will be between 136hp and 204hp. An inside report also suggests that the diesel engine will be equipped with a 12V electric system and a start/stop generator which will increase the fuel efficiency by 10%.
