The six-seater version of the MG Hector packs some different styling on the exteriors and the interiors will see the replacement of bench seat with captain seats in the middle row.

MG Motors made its debut with the Hector 5-seater in May and the response was such that the car received 28,000 bookings immediately and the SUV was sold out for 2019. Now, there are reports that MG might bring a 7 seat Hector but before that, we bring you a spy shot of 6 seater version of the SUV.

Also known as the Baojun 530 in the Chinese markets, the SUV has already received a 6-seater version for the same. The 6 seater layout of the MG Hector gets captain seats in the middle row and adds exclusivity to its class and its competitors.

Most of the features available on the 6-seater version will be shared with the five-seat configuration. Like the 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, iSMART connectivity features and more. However, the styling bits are the one which will distinguish both of these cars.

For starters, we get the split LED Daytime Running Lights which looks different. Also, the honeycomb grille is now different and seems larger. There is also an arrow-shaped chrome garnishing present in the headlamp cluster and turn indicators.

The alloy wheels design is also different and the rear profile of the SUV gets new taillight setup. Both the front and rear bumper will be restyled and addition of faux-dual exhaust tips.

The six-seater version of the Hector is based on the Baojun 530 which is 40mm longer than the pre-lift. The interiors of the SUV will see the replacement of the bench row in middle-seat with captain seats.

The engine specifications will be the same and will be available in three powertrain options – petrol, petrol hybrid and a diesel engine. The diesel engine is FCA sourced, the same as in Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. It churns out a total of 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque and gets mated to 6-speed manual transmission.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor generates 143 bhp with a healthy torque of 250 Nm. In this spec, it offers a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed DCT. The 48V hybrid turbocharged petrol motor produces 143 bhp and 250 Nm but offers a 12% more fuel economy than the regular petrol trim which stands at 15.81 kmpl.

The six-seater version of the MG Hector is expected to launch in the first half of 2020. Its direct competition will be the Tata Harrier 7 seater and Mahindra XUV500. It will be priced a little bit higher than the current model which sees a p[rice tag of Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model.
