Bajaj to produce a new KTM 500 cc Twin-cylinder motorcycle

Fresh reports say that Bajaj is planning to produce a new KTM 500cc twin-cylinder motorcycle in Duke as well as RC shapes. All the current KTM motorcycles are engineering and designed by KTM itself. 

Going as per its future plans, KTM plans to launch new models ranging between 500-800cc. More importantly, a new KTM 500cc motorcycle is on its way, as confirmed by the brand. 

In India, KTM with the help of Bajaj manufactures and sells bikes. However, KTM itself designs and engineers its motorcycles. On the other hand, Bajaj uses the help of the brand. Dominar 400 uses Duke 390’s engine and Pulsar NS200 is desgined with the help of the Austrian brand.

If the KTM 500cc motorcycle comes completely under the hands of Bajaj, we can expect a very aggressive pricing strategy. Expect it to be priced around Rs 4-4.5 Lakhs.  

As of now, it is not clear that the new KTM 500cc motorcycle will either go in the Duke or RC family. There are possibilites of the new bike adjusting in both the platforms. 

As said earlier, it will be a twin-cylinder engine, we can expect some serious performance figures from this bike.

It would easily deliver over 60 BHP of max. power, based on the specs of Duke 790. We expect the bike to continue with the 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.

The new KTM 500cc motorcycle will look like the original KTMs and will also carry some of their mechanicals. It will come with the Trellis frame chassis, that comes with all the other motorcycles. 

For suspension, it will continue with the WP Upside down shocks and adjustable rear-shock absorbers. For braking purposes, the bike will use double discs at the front and a single disc at the back. Dual-channel ABS setup will be standard on the motorcycle. 

Features onboard will include the color TFT instrument cluster with bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, riding modes and split LED headlamps. 

KTM 500cc motorcycle will take on the likes of performance bikes ranging between 400-700cc. In this segment, RE 650 Twins, Kawasaki Ninja bikes, Yamaha motorcycles and many premium brands have their bikes.

Currently, KTM plans to introduce Duke 790 in the Indian markets. It recently launched Duke 125, the least-powered bike in their lineup. Also, KTM 390 Adventure is scheduled to launch in India in 2019.
