BYD Auto is all set to reveal a new all-electric sedan Seal EV at Auto Expo 2023. It is said to offer a 650 km range per charge.

BYD (Build Your Dreams) is an exciting electric automaker to come from China. Currently, it offers two EV products in the Indian market – BYD e6 MPV and Atto 3 compact SUV. Now, the company has introduced a new fully-electric sedan in the country. The EV has been unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo his month. The BYD Seal EV is already available for sale in the international markets. It features the signature BYD “ocean aesthetics” design language. Here’s all we know about the BYD Seal EV:

BYD Seal EV at Auto Expo 2023

The BYD Seal EV features a sleek design with a drag coefficient of 0.219 Cd. It sports a coupe-like all-glass roof, flush-fitting door handles, four boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, and a split headlamp design. It also gets a full-width LED light bar at the back. Overall, the four-door sedan carries a sporty feel and resembles the Porsche Taycan a little bit. In terms of dimensions, the sedan EV measures 4800mm in length, 1875mm in width, and 1460mm in height. It comes with a wheelbase of 2910mm. For comparison, the Tesla Model 3 measures 4,694 x 1849 x 1443mm and has a 2875-mm wheelbase.

On the inside, the BYD Seal EV carries the “ocean aesthetics” design language as well. The air vents feature a wavy design with a subtle blue accent. The sedan EV gets a flat bottom steering wheel with three spokes. Additionally, the 15.6-inch primary screen comes with a landscape-portrait rotation feature. The top-end variants come with features like 12 Dynaudio speakers, a 220 V outlet, ambient lighting, etc. The base model only gets ten speakers. It also misses out on the heated and ventilated front seats.

Available in 2 Configurations

In the international markets, the BYD Seal EV comes in two configurations – RWD and an AWD. The base model is powered by a single 150 kW electric motor (mounted on the back axle) that offers 204 hp of power. The company also offers a variant with a 230 kW motor that produces 313 hp of power. However, the top-end model comes with two electric motors (with a combined 390 kW) that output 530hp of power. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The maximum speed offered by BYD Seal EV is 180 km/h.

Interested customers can also choose from two LFP battery options – 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. The BYD Seal EV offers a range of 500 and 700 km, depending on the battery. The company claims that the 4WD Seal uses 12.7 kWh of energy to travel up to 100 kilometers. It can go up to 300 km in just 15 minutes of charge. The range of the Seal AWD is 650 km. It is not clear which variants will be available in the Indian market. The BYD Seal EV comes with a starting price of $31,180 (approx Rs 25,77,200). The top-end model costs $42,630 (approx Rs 35,23,500). As of now, there is no information about the Indian price tag and launch dates.
