Here’s a digital imaginative rendering of the Kia Seltos EV, which is expected to be launched in India in the coming years.
Kia Motors is working on the electric version of Seltos, which will be launched globally. Currently under testing process, it is expected to make a global debut in 2021 itself. While we are sure that Kia will introduce the EV in India as well, there is no possibility of the date. Reports suggest that India launch should happen by 2022.
Here is an imaginative rendering of the Kia Seltos EV, which is quite simple and realistic as well. With minimal modifications done onboard, this could actually be similar to what the designers at Kia have in mind. The upper and lower grilles have been customized to the needs of an EV and there’s a body-coloured covering for the upper grille.
Further, it will get a redesigned front bumper and Blue highlights over the body. Lastly, there will be the EV badging on the front and the side. Reports say that Seltos EV will borrow its battery and electric motor from Hyundai Kona. It will get a 64 kWh electric motor which should deliver a range of more than 400 kilometres.
If we take the specifications of Hyundai Kona EV in consideration, the motor produces 136 PS and 395 Nm of peak torque, paired with a single-speed transmission. The ARAI-claimed range of the EV is 452 kilometres and in the real-world range, it comes down to at least 300-350 kilometres.
Kia is currently gearing up for the launch of Sonet sub compact SUV, which will be globally unveiled on 7th August. Based on the platform of Hyundai Venue, Sonet will approach a rather funky design but borrowing the same engines. This will take a total of 3 cars in Kia Motors India lineup.
