It’s true that Ford chose India as launching ground for its second generation Ford EcoSport but the truth is that India still awaits its launch while it has debuted in several other parts of world. February 2013 has been slated for its launch in India and word form trusted sources confirms the almost completion of its ARAI testing. And that’s why all details concerning the compact SUV have been updated on Ford’s official website. The vehicle has already acquired such a strong perception in Indian market that many prospects are already looking to book it in advance without giving a thought to its pricing. The American car maker has cleared all ins and outs of the vehicle but the price and variants still remains a mystery.
This compact SUV will come along with two engine options, one 1.0 liter capacity Ford EcoBoost engine, and the other a 1.5 liter capacity diesel engine. Both the engines have already proved their worth for the brand, while the former one won the “International Engine of the Year Award” the later one is already powering one of Ford’s another model ‘Fiesta’. These mills will be offered in combination with 5 speed manual gearboxes, the petrol motor on the other hand will be available with a Power Shift automatic transmission. One of the most talked-about features of this vehicle is its smooth ground clearance. Other defining features include classic security features, tasteful interiors embellished with quality fabrics and lights etc.
The postponement of its entry on Indian roads is only proving a loss of revenues and opportunities for Ford. Another brand that is expected to give a tough fight to EcoSport in Indian SUV segment is Renault. Renault Duster is currently selling more than 5000 thousands units per every month and also plans to give a warm welcome to EcoSport with launch of a four wheel drive version of Duster.
