Haryana Chief Minister has announced every Tuesday as a ‘car-free’ day from September 1, 2023, in Karnal city to curb traffic.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar was recently seen using a Royal Motorcycle instead of his official car. He did so as he on a ‘car-free’ Tuesdays in the city of Karnal to tackle the issue of growing traffic jams. The rise in the number of automobiles in the country in the last few years has been exponential. With more cars and motorcycles, come great pollution and traffic jams. The infrastructure is still trying to keep up with the increasing number of vehicles on the roads. Hence, long traffic jams are frequent in most major cities of India. However, the local and state governments are trying to come up with innovative solutions to tackle these issues. Here is an example of one such initiative.

What We Think
We vehemently support this initiative by the Haryana Government. We are in dire need of such innovative policies to take care of our environmental health. Globally, the initiatives pertaining to ecology to curb global warming and environmental degradation are rising. It is time we start acting on the local level as well. We can’t just rely on the government for everything. Public cooperation is of utmost importance in matters pertaining to the environment. Let us see how well the general public reacts to this.
