Here is an imaginative rendering of the Kia Sonet subcompact SUV which is scheduled to be launched towards the festive season.
Kia is going to launch its third car for India this year. Kia Sonet was showcased in a production-near form at the 2020 Auto Expo and will be launched in the August-September period this year. Many details of it have already been revealed and here’s one imaginative rendering that takes account of all the details we have.
You can see that this rendered Kia Sonet looks very identical to the one we saw in Auto Expo. It gets dual-tone Red and Black treatment with very identical front bumper kit. Along with sleek LED headlamps, it gets small but powerful projector fog lamps that are housed in the bumper. Below, you can see brushed silver skid plate as well.
The showcased alloy wheels have been replaced by a more premium looking diamond-cut alloys. Other than that, there seems to be no changes made to the showcased design. It will get plastic body cladding around the body as Kia wants to pass it off as a funky SUV. Built on the platform of Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet will adapt a completely different design.
The engines and gearbox will be borrowed from Venue as well. The options will include an 83PS 1.2 Litre NA petrol engine, a 100PS 1.5 Litre diesel engine and a new 1.0 Litre turbo petrol engine that produces 120 PS. Kia has announced that its upcoming SUV will get iMT gearbox, basically a clutchless manual stick. This gearbox will come with the turbo petrol engine, along with a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT.
Features onboard will include electric sunroof, cruise control, internet car technology, automatic climate control, 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, LED headlamps and much more. Safety features will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, rear parking camera and optional rear disc brakes (Only for Turbo Petrol Variants).
