Honda Amaze Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The compact sedan has demonstrated an impressive performance in the crash test

The latest 3rd-generation Honda Amaze has bagged a full 5-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP. Amaze is a prominent product in this popular category. Over the years, it has been able to post decent sales despite stiff competition from the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. Still, with constant updates, the Japanese car marque has been able to keep it fresh enough to entice new buyers. For now, let us take a look at the details of the crash test.

Honda Amaze at Bharat NCAP

The 3rd-gen Honda Amaze was able to secure a full 5-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and a 4-star rating in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category. Digging deeper, the compact sedan scored 28.33 points out of 32 in AOP and 40.81 points out of 49 in COP. The standard equipment list includes 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts at the rear, seatbelt load-limiter, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) (UN GTR No.8 / UNECE R140 / AIS-133), pedestrian protection (AIS-100) and seatbelt reminder (AIS-145). Together, these factors contributed to the 5 and 4 stars in the AOP and COP departments, respectively.

Talking specifically about the COP aspect, the Honda Amaze scored 14.33 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 14 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. Furthermore, the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was rated ‘OK’. Additionally, in the COP field, the sedan bagged a Dynamic Score of 23.81 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12, and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 5 out of 13. The two child seat mounts (for an 18-month-old child and a 3-year-old child) are rearward facing.

Specs

The Honda Amaze carries a familiar E20-compatible 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill, which produces a decent 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This mill pairs with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Honda claims a mileage of 18.65 km/l with the manual and 19.46 km/l with the automatic transmission. To get your hands on one, you will need to shell out an amount between Rs 7.41 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom.
