Speculations suggest that Honda CB Unicorn 160 might be stopped post the BS-6 emission norms, that is scheduled to kick in from April 2020.

Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India had launched the more stylish CB Unicorn 160, to give the buyers a more premium bike in the same price range of Unicorn 150. However, the tables turned and Unicorn sells much more than the 160 variant.

Honda has confirmed that it plans to discontinue some of its model post BS-6 norms, owing to poor sales and demand. We expect the Honda CB Unicorn 160 to be one such model which will be discontinued post 2020.

Honda CB Unicorn 160

The CB Unicorn 160 is one of the cheapest 160cc bikes in India. However, its near pricing to Unicorn 160 and X-Blade 160 makes it an unpopular motorcycle.

For the last 12 months, the sales have been very low. For the month of December, the bike remained unsold. In January 2019, only 4 units were sold. For the same period last year, 2600 units were sold and for December 2017, it was 3066 units.

Bikewale reports that Honda dealerships have confirmed that the walk-ins and inquiries for the Honda CB Unicorn 160 have drastically reduced over the past few months.

Buyers who are focused on a fuel efficienct and reliable commuter bike, go on for the Unicorn 150. On the other hand, the buyers who are looking for something sporty, look over to Honda X-Blade and CB Hornet 160R.

Based on these above factors, we suspect Honda to discontinue the CB Unicorn 160. Till now, it has not been even updated with ABS for the upcoming safety regulations. With the inclusion of ABS, the prices will further increase.

Honda CB Unicorn 160 gets a 162.71cc engine, that produces 13.82 BHP and 13.92 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.

Features onboard include a fully digital speed console, front disc brake as standard fitment, front visor, All-Time Headlamps on and a single commuter-specific seat.

The CB Unicorn 160 is priced from Rs 75556 up to Rs 78014 (ex-showroom prices). It competes with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar 150 and Hero Xtreme Sports.
