We are all well aware of the fact that the Honda Civic is all set to launch in India soon.
But, what is the exact launch timeline for this executive sedan?
Honda, at this year’s Auto Expo, confirmed that it will launch the current generation Civic sedan in India within the 2018-19 fiscal.
Since then, there have been numerous rumours and speculations regarding the launch of the Honda Civic in our country.
However, a recent development promises to put an end to all these speculations and bring you a definitive launch date for the Civic in our country.
What is it you ask?
According to a report published in Autocar India, Honda is most likely to launch the next-generation Civic sedan in India during the month of February next year.
And that is not all:
The sedan is going to launch in India with both petrol as well as diesel engines!
Yes, you head it right!
For the first time, the Honda Civic will have a diesel engine in its line-up.
The specifications of the petrol, as well as the diesel engine, is as follows:
The petrol engine is most likely to be a 1.8-litre i-VTEC unit producing 140 BHP of power output. Hence it seems that the new iteration of this executive sedan will pack in the same punch as did the previous version.
That said, we hope that Honda tunes the suspension and steering system in accordance to keep the Civic fun-to-drive car.
Talking about the diesel engine, the oil-burner is going to be the same 1.6-litre i-DTEC unit which will make its debut in India with the new CR-V. The SUV is most likely to launch in India on the 9th of October 2018.
With the technicalities about the engines done and dusted, let’s talk about the transmission options that this sedan is going to come with.
And you might get surprised by what you are about to read!
As expected, the petrol derivative is likely to come with a 6-speed manual along with an automatic gearbox on offer. However, the interesting thing to note here is that the diesel derivative will come to India only with a manual gearbox.
All that said, the Civic does have a good chance of success in India with its impressive feature list and a very distinctive and sporty exterior design. We expect the prices for the new Honda Civic to fall in-between the range of INR 12 Lakh to INR 18 Lakh!
