Hyundai is soon going to launch an all-new sub-4-meter compact SUV in the Indian market. This vehicle is going to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon. Given the moniker of Venue, this all-new urban SUV will be revealed to the public, in India on the 17th of April this year. Consequently, expect the same to launch in our country during the month of May this year.
It was earlier being said that the Hyundai Compact SUV launch will take place only around the end of this decade. However, Hyundai India has said it plans to launch the Venue by mid-2019. Hyundai was reportedly working on an MPV for India based on the Hexa Space concept. However, the recent slump is MPV sales seems to have prompted a shift in focus towards SUVs/crossovers.
|Model||Expected Launch Date|
|Hyundai Venue Compact SUV||Mid-2019|
In all likelihood, the Hyundai Compact SUV will go on sale with an aggressive price tag. Expect the entry-level model to have a starting price of roughly INR 7.5 lakh. The top-end Diesel variant could cost a little north of INR 10.5 lakh.

|Hyundai Venue Compact SUV Top Model||Rs. 10.5 lakh|
Powering the new Hyundai compact SUV in India might be the same engines that power the Elite i20. This means that the Venue will come with a 1.2 litre Kappa VTVT Normally Aspirated petrol and a 1.4 litre U2 CRDi Turbocharged Diesel engine. The 1.2 Petrol offers a max. power of 82 bhp and a peak torque of 114.7 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. Whereas, the 1.4 Diesel oil burner pumps out a max. power of 88.7 bhp and a peak torque of 220 Nm. Transmission options could include 6-Speed Manual and 4-Speed Auto units.
Also on the cards could be a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. However, nothing’s official about this small capacity petrol motor. That said, by the time the compact SUV arrives, this new engine could already be powering certain Hyundai models in India. We won’t be surprised if the production-spec Hyundai Compact SUV gets 1.0-litre turbo petrol with an optional 7-speed dual clutch automatic.

We expect the QXI compact SUV to measure 3,997 mm in length, 1,775 mm in width and 1,690 mm in height. The car is going to sport a ground clearance of 190mm. While the boot capacity is expected to stand at 320-litres.
Hyundai has always been generous when it comes to filling up their cars with features and creature comforts. Hence, the Venue is expected to come with an impressive feature list. Expect the car to come with projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, diamond cut alloy wheels, multi-functional steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple Car Play among other features.
Just like having an impressive equipment list, the Venue or the QXI will also have an equally impressive safety kit. As standard, it will offer dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Reversing Parking Sensors. Higher models will get day and night IRVM, reversing camera, ISOFIX Child seat mounts and side and curtain airbags.
Hyundai Venue or HND14 is a vehicle which showcases what Hyundai has in store for use in the near future. This car, unlike most Fluidic design cars from the brand, has very aggressive and butch looks. It, however, does follow the design principles that we have seen on other Hyundai cars. The Hyundai Carlino compact SUV comes with a very aggressive front with a large grille, chunky bumpers and scuff plates under the bumper. The headlamps and fog lamps are sleek and are kind of geometric shapes which are more complex than usually seen on Hyundai cars.
The sides are characterized by huge chunky wheel arches, tall boy design, large wheels and muscular body lines. There is also a side body cladding running all across. The rear gets chunky and hexagonal tail lamps with a subtle side sweep, small and high tailgate glass, sporty-dual tone finish bumper and rear scuff plates. The rear of the Venue looks very similar to the Jeep Renegade small SUV, especially bits like the tail lamps and rear windshield.
Although Hyundai has not shared any official pictures of the interiors, yet they have shared some of the key interior and feature aspects of the Hyundai Venue compact SUV. It includes fashion inspired interior themes, flexibility and versatility of a compact urban car.
The Venue is going to retail under the same variant nomenclature as the Creta. Hence, it will go on sale in a total of 6 different variants. These will be E, E+, S, SX, SX (Dual-Tone) and SX (O). However, if Hyundai decides to sell this SUV under the variant nomenclature as that of the i20, then it will retail under Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O).
It is too early to comment on the number and the options of colour schemes under which this sub-4-meter SUV is going to retail in. However, we can still speculate that it is going to get these basic colours from the pallet such as Orange, Grey, Silver, Red, Black and White.
