Maruti WagonR 7 Seater

Maruti WagonR is one of the most practical hatchbacks that you can buy now. However, if it comes as a 7-seater, it would be more attractive to buyers.

Sometime back, there were rumours suggesting that Maruti is planning a 7-seater version of the WagonR. To top it, the Suzuki Solio was spotted doing rounds around the roads of Gurgaon, near the plant of Maruti Suzuki. However, the rumours faded out pretty soon as Maruti hinted that there is no such product planned.

If Maruti has plans to bring an affordable 7-seater based on the WagonR, it could actually look like this. This digital rendering is based on the current generation WagonR, which was launched last year. Main differences is the extended derriere which will seat two people more. Then there’s different alloy wheels, plastic cladding over the fenders and roof rails.

This looks like a very possible version of the Maruti WagonR based 7-seater MPV. Seeing the practicality levels and popularity of the tall-boy, introducing a bigger version of it would appeal to the buyers from private as well as commercial segment. It is one of the best selling cars in India and has never experience dull sales since the past 21 years.

Renault Triber is currently one of the most affordable MPVs that you can buy in India. Just under 4-metre length, the Triber is highly practical and the best selling Renault car currently. It comes with a decent features list, a fuel-efficient 1.0-litre engine and a flexible seating configuration. Plus, it is cheaper than the Ertiga.

There are reports suggesting that many manufacturers are feigning interest in this segment. Maruti seems like the right brand to do it because it is able to keep its costs in check and people prefer Maruti cars over any brand in the budget segment. Placing it around a Lakh costlier than the WagonR, ought to do the trick.

WagonR is priced starting from Rs 4.46 Lakhs to Rs 5.96 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Hyundai Santro, Hyundai Grand i10, Tata Tiago, Renault Kwid and Datsun GO. It comes with two engine options including a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder and a 1.2 Litre four-cylinder petrol units.
