Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401, from Sweden, are set to make a debut this festive season, as bookings for them have commenced unofficially.
Earlier this year, Bajaj Auto confirmed that it will launch the Husqvarna Motorcycles in India, which is actually owned by KTM. It will be sold under the Bajaj umbrella but through the KTM dealerships.
Now, we can confirm that KTM dealerships in Delhi, as well as Mumbai, have started accepting booking amounts of Rs 5000-10000. Of course, these bookings are unofficial, but that indicates that the launch is nearing.
We expect the India launch of Husqvarna Motorcycles in October, amidst the festive season. At the launch, both the bikes will enter India through the CKD route and will be assembled at KTM’s plant in Pune.

Husqvarna Motorcycles have been spotted in India occasionally, riding on the orange alloys of the KTM Duke. The engine, frame and some other components will be taken from the Duke 390 itself.
Among the Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen, the latter will be launched first in India. It is a neo-modern cafe racer, equipped with a rear-tire hugger, rear-set footpegs, low-height clip-on handlebar and wire-spoke wheels.
Features onboard will include split LED headlamps, clip-on handlebars, a fully digital instrument console, a single-seat, dual ABS, and of course, its retro-styling with a modern twist.
It will use Duke 390’s 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, that produces 42 BHP and 37 Nm of peak torque. For suspension, it will come with USD forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the back.

The Vitpilen 401 will only come in white colour. The motorcycle is likely to cost around Rs 3 Lakhs or so, to take on the likes of BMW G 310 R, KTM Duke 390, Honda CB300R and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.
