The upcoming latest-generation of the Renault Duster is slated to debut on January 26, 2026
In this post, we experience the new Renault Duster performing some pretty hardcore off-roading adventures. Note that this test has been conducted by a prominent Australian media personnel. Duster has been creating quite a buzz in the Indian market ahead of its official debut next week. We know that it has already been launched in a few international markets. In India, it was the first vehicle to establish the mid-size SUV segment. Today, we have tons of models in this space, making it immensely competitive. For now, let us check out how well the new Duster performs off-tarmac.
Latest Renault Duster Tested Off The Road
This post stems from CarExpert on YouTube. The host has the new Renault Duster in 4×2 an 4×4 guises. In the first section of the video, he tests the regular 4×2 version on the roads. However, we got intrigued by what the 4×4 version has to offer. He mentions that this is a special concept version of the new Duster made specifically for the Australian market. It comes with a dedicated 4×4 configuration, 212 mm of ground clearance, impressive approach and departure angles, along with off-road-focused tyres and an aftermarket adventure kit. The first test that the team conducted was traction control.
In this, the driver’s side rear tyre was suspended in the air to test the traction control. It was a fairly straightforward experiment and the SUV passed with flying colours. On the return attempt, the SUV passed the test in 4×4 mode. Thereafter, the test was to make the SUV climb up a steep slope. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, the driver simply ended up accelerating it hard after which it reached the top with relative ease. Finally, they tried the hill descent control, which worked pretty well. Completing the excursion was the rocky ride where the new Renault Duster performed as expected. Overall, the SUV was quite fun and to some extent, comparable to something like the Suzuki Jimny.

Having tracked the Duster’s journey since it created the midsize SUV segment in India, I can say this new-generation model looks far more capable than what most Indians expect from a monocoque SUV. The off-road performance showcased here underlines that Renault hasn’t diluted the Duster’s core DNA, something that matters in a market now crowded with soft-roaders. If Renault brings even a part of this 4×4 capability to India at the right price, the Duster could once again redefine buyer expectations, much like it did a decade ago.
