The Jimny, globally acclaimed as a popular 3-door lightweight off-road SUV with a history spanning over 50 years, has recently made its debut in India as a 5-door model for the first time ever. It is selling in high numbers. Let’s delve into the details of this recent customization and its distinctive features.

This unique Jimny boasts tons of hardcore modifications to enhance its off-roading capabilities. The most prominent ones include the ginormous wheels with off-road-spec 15-inch monster tyres. These elevate the appearance of the SUV significantly. In fact, the ground clearance is up by almost 1-feet and the tyre height is around 3-feet. There is the addition of a side step to enhance the ingress and egress characteristics of the lightweight off-roader. To accommodate such tyres, the suspension has been raised substantially. The wheel arches are pronounced, accentuating its imposing road presence a lot. There is also a new snorkel to heighten its water wading capabilities. All in all, just these couple of alterations have an immense effect on the final outcome of the vehicle.

Specs

The standard Maruti Jimny is equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine, delivering a respectable 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine can be coupled with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. However, this particular version undergoes stage 2 tuning, resulting in an increased output of 120 hp and 170 Nm. Power is distributed to all four wheels through Suzuki’s distinctive ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 drivetrain, which includes a low-range transfer case and a locking differential. With an enhanced ground clearance of 300 mm (compared to the standard 210 mm), the SUV impresses with approach, break-over, and departure angles of 36°, 24°, and 50°, respectively. In terms of pricing, it remains competitive, ranging from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh, ex-showroom.

We value the enthusiasm of individuals looking to personalize their vehicles for a unique look. Nevertheless, it’s imperative to recognize that the majority of car modifications are prohibited in India. Consequently, we strongly discourage our viewers and readers from engaging in extensive and comprehensive modifications. If you have a desire for specific modifications, we recommend consulting your local Regional Transport Office (RTO) in advance. If the proposed customizations align with legal requirements, you can officially update them in the registration certificate of your vehicle. This proactive step ensures compliance with the law and helps avoid any potential issues with law enforcement.
