Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Crash Test with Truck

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Crash Test with Truck.

Truly, the biggest highlight of the Bajaj CNG motorcycle is the 100 km/kg mileage claim. Even though this stellar fuel economy has everyone’s attention, what many wonder is if Bajaj Freedom 125 safe in an accident? Much of this fear stems from the numerous incidents of CNG tank explosions seen in 4-wheelers. But it looks like Bajaj Auto is ready to field all such doubts with a video that shows the motorcycle in typical accident situations.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Safety Test Video

It’s noteworthy that the Bajaj Freedom CNG bike brings many innovations to the table. Among the more important of these is the CNG tank housed inside the sturdy trellis frame. The motorcycle has undergone rigorous testing to ensure it complies with the safety regulations. Video footage released by the manufacturer shows the CNG bike in frontal, side and rear crash tests. In the front collision test, the Freedom collides head-on with a 1.5-ton load. The relative velocity of this impact is said to be 60 km/h. In spite of the intensity of the impact, the CNG tank of the motorcycle remains completely safe. It holds on to its position and there’s not even a scratch on it.

Also, the pressure gauge doesn’t show any difference, thereby indicating no leakage. The motorcycle even passes side impact and vertical drop tests with an aplomb. Finally, the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG is seen crashing into a truck and coming under the wheels of a 10-ton truck. Even though such a crash might prove fatal for the rider, it’s a rather smart way to show the high safety quotient of the CNG tank. The CNG tank stays completely intact and the pressure gauge doesn’t indicate any leakage.

Apart from these crashes, Bajaj has even performed a slew of other tests to prove the robustness of the tank. These include a CNG valve impact test, 50 kg filling unit strength test and even a 20G pull-out test. These tests were conducted to ensure the compliance with the government-issued safety norms.
