Specifications and Safety

| Torque | 350 Nm |
| Transmission | 6-speed MT/ 9-speed AT |

The entry-level model in Jeep India’s portfolio, the Compass is fairly popular for its premium image, inherited off-road capabilities, and upmarket interiors. It comes with a 2-liter diesel engine that produces 172 PS and 350 Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic unit, while the SUV can be specced with 2WD or 4WD options. The Jeep Compass has created a niche for itself by targetting car buyers who want a well-built car, great dynamics, and the street cred that comes from an internationally renwoned badge. Compass finds itself positioned close to bigger SUVs like the Tata Safari, while offering compact footprint that’s similar to vehicles like the Kia Seltos.
Speaking of the safety kit, the Anniversary Edition comes with a digital IRVM, while retaining 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, TPMS, ESC, electronic parking brake, Hill Hold Assist, roll-over mitigation and ISOFIX child seat anchorage.

Editor’s Note
With SUVs continuing to dominate the Indian market, manufacturers across segments are offering buyers an increasingly wide range of options, often at highly competitive prices. While the Jeep Compass has traditionally stood out with its premium positioning, distinctive design and off-road credentials, the segment has become significantly more crowded, with established players offering feature-rich alternatives at attractive price points.
The Compass Anniversary Edition comes at an interesting juncture for the model. Can Jeep leverage its brand appeal and premium positioning to hold its ground in an increasingly competitive SUV market, or will the Compass have to concede some ground to newer and more aggressively priced rivals? That will be interesting to watch.
