Kia Sp Concept based SUV could launch in India during August 2019!

The Kia Sp Concept based SUV is going to be more premium and feature rich in comparison to its competition and will get BS-VI engines right from launch.

Kia Motors has officially confirmed that their new compact SUV, set to rival against the Hyundai Creta, is going to launch in India during the second half of 2019. The South Korean automaker has already started testing the production version of this compact SUV in India. And by the looks of it, the final road ready iteration will resemble to the SP Concept which we all saw at the 2018 Auto Expo.

A recent report published in Autocar India states that the production-spec Kia SP Concept SUV is likely to name its debut in India sometime during the month of August 2019. And that it will be loaded right-up-to-the-brim with features and creature comforts. Furthermore, the company seems to be stressing on the fact that this vehicle. their maiden in our country will be superior in terms of luxury in comparison to the competition.

The Kia SP Concept based SUV is going to use the same platform as that of the Hyundai Creta. Not only this but the 1.5-litre, BS-VI complaint petrol and diesel engines set to debut in the Kia, will eventually make their way to the Creta as well. Right from launch, this vehicle is going to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, it will also feature a torque converter automatic unit for both the petrol as well as diesel engine derivatives.

The Kia SP Concept SUV is likely to measure almost identical to the Hyundai Creta in in terms of its dimensions. This is because of the reason that both these cars share the same platform. Space on the inside is expected to be almost identical as well. The onboard feature list of Kia’s SUV will include features such a dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, leather upholstery, electrically operated driver’s seat among others.

Prices for the Kia SP Concept SUV are likely to fall in-between the range of INR 10 lakh to INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom). In addition to the Hyundai Creta, its competition will include the likes of Nissan Kicks, Renault Capture and the low-spec trims of the Tata Harrier as well.
