Suzuki Jimny is among the most popular lightweight affordable off-roading SUVs that has been an established product in international markets for a long time now.

This version of the Suzuki Jimny with a Land Rover Defender fascia looks quite rugged and accurate. Jimny is a name that has been around for decades in various international markets. It is a lightweight off-roading SUV that people can get access to without burning a hole through their pockets. In India, it comes in the more practical 5-door guise. On the other hand, the Land Rover Defender is the epitome of toughness and off-tarmac prowess. It is the British luxury SUV that was specifically designed to take a beating in the harshest of conditions. Let us see what the outcome is when these two ‘merge’ together.

This image has been doing rounds on the internet. Judging by the registration plate, it is spotted in some foreign country. At the front, it gets that bulky and familiar bonnet of the older versions of the Defender, the same grille, the trademark round headlamps with turn indicators installed on the same panel, fog lamps positioned on the sturdy bumper with a useable skid plate to protect the underbelly of the SUV on those rough roads, raked A-pillars for that typical old-school SUV silhouette and more.

On the sides, the 3-door configuration comes to the fore with large door openings to ease the ingress and egress of the rear passengers, prominent wheel arches with black cladding, turn indicators on the side fender, high profile steel rims painted black, an upright stance and the body shape that we have come to appreciate both in the Jimny and Defender. The tyres are designed for the utmost ride comfort even on uneven surfaces and better shock absorption on broken roads.

Specs

The transmission duties are carried by a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. It comes with dedicated off-roading hardware including Suzuki’s trademark ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 system with a low-range transfer case. The official launch is around the corner which is when the prices will also be announced. It will rival the likes of Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in India.
