Volkswagen India has launched a limited-edition model of the BS6 Polo TSI and the BS6 Vento TSI. These limited-run models have been launched in an attempt to push sales. The Volkswagen Polo TSI Edition is available for a price of Rs 7.89 lakh, while the Vento TSI Edition has been priced at Rs 10.99 lakh, all prices ex-showroom, pan India. The TSI edition models are based on the Highline Plus manual variants of both the cars and mainly come with cosmetic changes to set them apart from the standard models. Interestingly, the Highline Plus is the top-end variant for both the models but these limited-run models are actually quite more affordable than the models they are based on. The Polo TSI edition is Rs 13,000 more affordable than the Highline Plus variant while the Vento TSI edition is cheaper by an entire lakh than its own Highline Plus counterpart. Neither models lose out on any equipment as compared to the Highline Plus variants either.

Meanwhile the Volkswagen Vento TSI Edition is available for a price of Rs 10.99 lakh.

Like most other Volkswagen limited-edition models, the Polo and Vento TSI editions come with plenty of blacked out bits and decals on the body work. That includes blacked-out rear view mirrors. a contrasting black roof and a gloss black rear spoiler as well. There are also funky decals on both the sides of the car over the door panels and a TSI edition badge on the lower part of the passenger door.

Under the hood, the Volkswagen Polo and Vento TSI editions are powered by a BS6 1.0L TSI turbo-petrol engine that puts out 110hp of power and 175Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission on both the models and there’s no automatic gearbox variant for this limited-run model. ARAI-rated mileage for the Polo 1.0L TSI stands at 18.24kpl with the manual gearbox. The BS6 Vento 1.0L TSi with the manual gearbox meanwhile has an ARAI-rated mileage of 17.69kpl.

Apart from the cosmetic changes on the outside, there are no changes on the interiors of either cars. Although the blacked-out elements look quite good, the decals on the doors may not be to everyone’s taste. In India, the BS6 Volkswagen Polo competes against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz and the Ford Figo. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Vento rivals the all-new Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna facelift.ย
