Sporty Elegance
The latest-gen Honda WR-V has always been a stylish contender in the competitive cross hatch market. Standing out amidst its rivals in the price range of around RM100k, the WR-V boasts a modern design and pretty decent ground clearance. However, the GIIAS 2023 showcase introduced a whole new dimension of sporty elegance to this popular model.
Painted in a striking red color with a contrasting black roof, this modified WR-V sits on significantly lowered suspension. This gives it an aggressive stance. Adding to its allure are the stunning Work Emotion seven-spoke alloy wheels in a sleek shade of grey. These 17-inch rims, similar to the stock size, are paired with wider and lower-profile Michelin Primacy 4 tires (225/50) compared to the stock 215/55.

Bold Accents and Striking Features
The modified Honda WR-V exhibited at GIIAS 2023 is not just about a low suspension and stylish wheels. The front end of the vehicle features a bold and prominent air dam with three distinctive central holes, exuding a sense of power and dynamism. This design choice is complemented by equally substantial side skirts that add to the vehicle’s aerodynamic aesthetics. As one’s gaze moves towards the rear, it’s hard to miss the attention-grabbing mega diffuser with twin exhaust pipes, adding a touch of sportiness to the WR-V’s rear profile. Moreover, a discreetly extended tailgate spoiler subtly enhances the car’s overall sporty appeal, creating a harmonious and balanced look.
In Indonesia, where the WR-V made its debut in November 2022, it goes up against the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky. Powered by Honda’s reliable 1.5L i-VTEC NA engine producing 121 PS/145 Nm, mated to a CVT gearbox, the WR-V offers a dependable and efficient driving experience. With two variants available – the Rp.271.9 juta E (RM81,786) and the Rp.289.9 juta RS (RM87,174) – Indonesian buyers have the opportunity to choose the model that best suits their preferences. Opting for additional features like Honda Sensing elevates the RS variant’s price to Rp.309.9 juta (RM93,188). In contrast, the Malaysian market got the WR-V just last month. It’s available in 4 variants with prices ranging from RM89,900 to RM107,900.

What We Think
The modified 2023 Honda WR-V presented at GIIAS 2023 has managed to redefine the perception of this popular cross-hatch. With its lowered stance, stylish rims, and some striking design elements, it showcases the modification potential of the latest WR-V. While the stock WR-V is sufficiently popular in South East Asian markets, the modified makes the run-of-the-mill offering quite alluring.
