Mahindra MIDS Design Studio

Mahindra MIDS Design Studio

The Indian automobile giant wants to ensure that there is a decent ecosystem around automobile design in our country to create world-class products

In a rather exciting video clip from Mahindra, we are able to get a virtual tour of the new MIDS (Mahindra India Design Studio) in Mumbai. Mahindra has had a great last couple of years in terms of sales and new products. The new-age Mahindra SUVs combine the legacy of being capable vehicles with the attraction of the latest tech and gizmos. Both these aspects are crucial to entice today’s customers. Over the last few years, design has been a key differentiating factor among Mahindra cars. This is particularly true with its latest breed of EVs like XEV 9e and BE 6.

Mahindra’s MIDS Design Studio

We are able to experience this new studio, thanks to the Mahindra Automotive channel on YouTube. The visuals capture the glimpses of the event where media professionals, car experts, top Mahindra officials and the general public were invited. The state-of-the-art facility is located in Mumbai. It contains many elements to create an environment where world-class cars can be designed. In fact, there is a machine which can churn out a full-size clay model of any Mahindra vehicle. Needless to mention, the latest Mahindra vehicles are present there as well.

Some of you might already know that Mahindra has a design centre in the UK called Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE). In the future, MADE will work closely with MIDS on many different products. They will team up across various industries to help Mahindra grow stronger. The current studio was set up back in 2015 as a dedicated studio to support Mahindra’s Auto and Farm businesses. Mahindra hasn’t said which vehicles will be designed here. But it’s likely that new models will be shaped by the creative team at MIDS.

The video even encapsulates Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., interacting with the media and crowd. On this momentous occasion, he remarked, “We are thrilled to inaugurate our future ready Mahindra India Design Studio bringing world class design technologies and tools to create stunning, design outcomes across our Auto and Farm businesses. The new studio will attract the best design talent from India and become a leading automotive design centre in India. The influence of MIDS on our products will be felt for many years to come.”
