The pickup truck will be based on the mighty popular Scorpio N, which means that it will bear some premium elements
The Mahindra Scorpio N-based pickup truck was spied testing on the Indian roads. Note that it has been seen performing road tests for a few months now. The Scorpio N is one of the most successful SUVs in the country in its class. It combines the heritage and DNA of the iconic Scorpio with the new-age amenities. Hence, it becomes a compelling cluster of premium cabin, powerful performance and impressive off-roading capabilities. For now, let us take a look at the details of the upcoming pickup.
Mahindra Scorpio N-based Pickup Truck Spotted Testing
We came across the specifics of this case courtesy of driftxp_ on Instagram. The visuals capture someone driving on a highway amidst heavy traffic, recording the Scorpio N-based pickup truck being driven in his vicinity. Even though the pickup truck is heavily camouflaged, the nearness to it gives away its true identity. We were mostly able to get a glance at the side and rear profiles. At the rear, the taillamps are quite compact, something that we saw on the erstwhile Mahindra Getaway.
Furthermore, the side section contains steel wheels, which indicates that this might be a lower trim. Also, the cargo bed has a decent size, especially with the dual-cabin setup. There are side steps to enhance the ingress and egress characteristics of the pickup truck. Apart from that, the prominent wheel arches and the similarity to the Scorpio N from the sides complete the exterior styling. It will be interesting to see if there are any distinct design elements to make it stand out from the Scorpio N from the front.
My View
We know that the Indian market is not particularly conducive for pickup trucks. In India, this market segment has not picked up all that well. Still, the niche off-roading community loves hardcore machines like the Thar, Gurkha, D-Max and Hilux. Given the history associated with the Scorpio moniker in India, the chances of the Scorpio N-based pickup truck succeeding in India are quite high. Let us keep an eye out for more details inthe times to come.
