Mahindra recently showcased 4 new concepts at the Freedom_NU event held on Independence Day
In this post, we take a look at the details of the Mahindra Vision.S, which might actually be the next-gen Mahindra Bolero Neo or Thar Sports. The upcoming Mahindra Thar Sports or new-gen Bolero has been seen testing on the road many times. Recently, it has been spotted with heavy camouflage. It is still not clear if this model is the next-gen Bolero Neo or a new Thar variant with a monocoque setup. A few days back, Mahindra hosted some Australian auto journalists and shared details about the Thar Sports. That version, however, could be meant for export markets. In India, it is more likely to be the new-gen Bolero Neo. For now, let us check out the details here.
Mahindra Vision S Might be Next-Gen Bolero Neo or Thar Sports
At the Freedom_NU event, Mahindra demonstrated its new platform along with 4 concepts – Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.X and Vision.SXT. Among these, the Vision.S looked the closest to the spy images and videos of the new-gen Bolero Neo or Thar Sports. The key things to notice are the upright stance, butch demeanour, muscular bonnet, flaring wheel arches, sturdy bumper and body claddings, attractive alloy wheels, rugged roof rails and much more. At the rear, there is a spare tyre mounted on the tailgate along with modern elements. All these components, which were part of the concept Vision.S, could easily make it to the production Bolero Neo and Thar Sports.
We also know that Mahindra equips its vehicles with all the latest bells and whistles. This includes modern tech, convenience, safety, connectivity and comfort functionalities. There is no reason to believe that the new Bolero Neo / Thar Sports won’t come with all the latest tech as well. While it might not be as fancy as the other Mahindra SUVs to keep prices in check, there will still be tons of new-age elements to attract distinct buyers. Exact details will emerge in the coming days.
My View
Mahindra is on a product offensive strategy, balancing between high-end luxury EVs for the global markets, as well as practical and relatively utilitarian SUVs for the domestic space. This is quite impressive since it understands the sensibilities of its target audiences. I must admit I am quite excited about the coming years for the Indian automobile giant, wherein it plans to go from domestic to truly international with world-class products. Let us keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
