The new-age Mahindra electric SUVs have been all the rage in India in the last few months
Mahindra was able to sell an impressive 30,000 electric SUVs in the past 7 months. This is a monumental achievement considering the top trims of these SUVs cost well over Rs 30 lakh. This points to a rather intriguing trend of new-age car buyers trusting Mahindra with these premium SUVs. Also, the new sub-brands – XEV and BE – look promising to take Mahindra and India onto the global stage. For now, let us take a look at the specifics of the sales numbers.
Mahindra EV Sales
As per the official press release, Mahindra claims that it was able to sell a whopping 30,000 units of its electric SUVs in our market in the last 7 months. This roughly comes down to 1 EV sold per 10 minutes. Note that these sales figures include the INGLO-based XEV 9e and BE 6. Furthermore, these sales generated a revenue of Rs 8,472 Crore a an ex-showroom price for the Indian auto giant. Digging a bit deeper, the XEV 9e contributed 56%, while the BE 6 generated 44% of the total sales. Evidently, the demand is pretty even for both of these coupe SUVs. Finally, what is probably the most interesting is the fact that the Pack Three with a 79 kWh battery pack resulted in 73% of total sales.
Both these SUVs come with all the latest tech, connectivity, convenience and safety amenities to pamper the occupants. In fact, the cabin contains premium upholstery and high-quality materials, making it look like a luxury car. The triple-screen layout of the XEV 9e was a particular attraction for a whole bunch of customers. Also, the multiple battery pack options and exhilarating performance numbers further attract driving enthusiasts. The XEV 9e retails from Rs 21.90 lakh to Rs 31.25 lakh, ex-showroom, while the BE 6 starts at Rs 18.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 27.65 lakh, ex-showroom.
My View
With the new modular INGLO architecture, the Indian auto giant has massive plans to establish global dominance. The entire range of XEV and BE series will be on sale in the next couple of years. Currently, we have the XEV 9e, XEV 9S and BE 6. I must admit I am quite excited about the upcoming models as well. Since the XEV 9S will go on sale in January, the sales numbers are likely to rise even more in the coming months.

As someone who has tracked India’s SUV evolution for over 15 years, I can say Mahindra’s electric push is hitting the market at exactly the right moment. Selling 30,000 EVs north of the Rs 30-lakh mark isn’t just a sales milestone, it’s proof that Indian buyers are now confident in homegrown premium tech. The traction of the XEV and BE sub-brands signals Mahindra’s readiness to challenge global players, not just participate. If this momentum continues, we’re looking at a historic shift in how Indian consumers perceive premium electric mobility.
