Specs
The only area which bears similarities to the current-gen model is the engine-gearbox combination. As a result, the XUV 3XO comes with three powertrains – a 1.2-litre turbo petrol direct injection engine which produces 130 hp and 230 Nm (best-in-segment), a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which develops 110 hp and 200 Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine which churns out a healthy 115 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. The former can produce up to 250 Nm with automatic transmission using the overboost function. There are options of choosing between either a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AISIN-sourced automatic transmission or a 6-speed AMT. The mileage for the regular turbo petrol is 18.89 km/l, while for the direct injection turbo petrol, it is 20.1 km/l.
Apart from that, the suspension has been fully recalibrated with Independent Front Suspension (MacPherson) and Semi-Independent Rear Suspension (Twist Beam). In fact, the NVH levels in the petrol variant are as sophisticated as inside the cabin of the XUV700, which is a premium flagship offering. Even though it is not an off-roader, it gets a decent water wading capacity of 350 mm and an approach and departure angle of 23.6-degree and 39.6-degree, respectively.

Exterior Styling
We have seen that most facelift models just offer some basic tweaks to the exterior appearance. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the XUV 3XO. There are significant modifications to the front and rear profiles. For instance, the front section comes with imposing LED headlamps with projector setup, a large front grille finished in what looks like glossy black material, C-shaped LED DRLs, a redesigned bumper, new elements on the fascia, etc. Similarly, the rear section receives a total overhaul. The XUV 3XO now comes with a connected taillamp setup with a sleek LED light bar connecting the two tail lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. There is a noticeable XUV 3XO lettering on the boot lid. Additionally, it gets skid plates and new bumpers at the front and rear. All in all, the list of customizations is rather extensive.

Author’s Note
Mahindra is making sure that it leaves no stone unturned when it comes to offering the latest tech, connectivity, convenience and safety amenities in the new XUV 3XO. In fact, that is the only way to stand up to rivals like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza. Grabbing a significant chunk of market share in this category is extremely challenging. Hopefully, the updated exterior and new-age interior features will be enough to grab the attention of the buyers.
