The variant range of the new large 7-seat SUV is quite attractively positioned to access a wide range of customers
In this post, we take a look at the details of what the base model (AX) of the new Mahindra XUV 7XO offers. The XUV 7XO essentially showcases the peak of what the Indian automaker currently offers in its ICE lineup. It brings together a host of modern comfort features, advanced technology, strong connectivity, capable powertrains, and the latest active and passive safety equipment. Nevertheless, what is quite impressive is that it offers tons of amenities even in the base variant. Let us check out the details here.
Mahindra XUV 7XO AX (Base Model) Detailed
This post stems from Nick Audience on YouTube. The visuals capture the base trim of the new SUV from the outside and inside. We see LED DRLs, LED headlamps, LED sequential indicators, and a sporty bumper at the front. The side section contains black side cladding, flush door handles, ORVMs, 17-inch steel rims with wheel covers, black side pillars, a shark fin antenna, etc. Finally, at the rear, we witness LED taillamps, a high-mount stop lamp, a roof spoiler, a black panel between the taillamps and a sporty bumper. All in all, even the base version is fairly equipped.
On the inside, the list of features is decent. The top attractions include a triple screen display (for driver’s instrument cluster, infotainment and passenger screen), normal steering wheel with controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows, textured door panels, 6-speaker audio system, manual AC, armrest with storage, cup holders, vanity mirror, height adjustable seat belts, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, AC vents for second row, USB ports on front and second row, AC vents and cup holders for 3rd row, drive modes, day-night IRVM, 6 airbags, ISOFIX, ADRENOX, Alexa Built-in ChatGPT, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, etc. As you can see, the base trim is well-appointed.
Specs and Price
The Mahindra XUV 7XO AX trim is available with both petrol and diesel engines. These incorporate a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel mill, generating 200 hp / 380 Nm and 155 hp / 360 Nm in the lower tune, and 185 hp with 420 Nm in the higher tune, of peak power and torque, respectively. This trim is on sale solely with a 6-speed manual transmission with both fuel types. The prices start at an attractive Rs 13.66 lakh for the petrol and Rs 14.96 lakh, ex-showroom, for the diesel. Hence, if you want to save big bucks while still owning a large SUV, the base versions make a lot of sense.

From my perspective, the AX variant clearly highlights how well Mahindra understands value-driven Indian buyers. Even in its base guise, the XUV 7XO delivers the essentials, strong engines, solid safety tech and a surprisingly rich feature set, without feeling stripped down. This aggressive positioning makes the AX a compelling entry point for large-family SUV buyers who want space and substance without stretching the budget. It’s a strategy that should keep Mahindra’s order books busy.
