Specs Comparison

The higher variant range of both these SUVs is offered with petrol and diesel mills, along with manual and automatic transmissions. The Mahindra XUV 7XO comes equipped with a pair of engine options. One choice is the familiar 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol unit. It delivers 200 hp along with 380 Nm of torque. The other offering is a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel powerplant sold in two different tunes. One variant makes 155 hp and 360 Nm, whereas the higher version produces 185 hp and 420 Nm. When paired with the automatic gearbox, torque increases to 450 Nm. Both powertrains can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. Mahindra claims a 0-60 km/h sprint of less than 5 seconds. During our tests, the SUV managed 0-100 km/h in only 10 seconds, an impressive figure for something this large. It provides drive modes, including Zip, Zap, Zoom and customizable settings. Customers may also choose an all-wheel-drive system. A standout feature is the debut of Mahindra’s DAVINCI new suspension architecture.

On the other hand, the Mahindra Scorpio N is offered with both petrol and diesel powertrains. Customers may select from manual or automatic transmissions. Rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations are available as well. This broad lineup is designed to satisfy varying buyer requirements. The Scorpio N uses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder mStallion turbo-petrol engine. It generates an impressive 200 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Also offered is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk turbo-diesel unit. This diesel motor is sold in two outputs. One produces 132 PS and 300 Nm, while the second delivers 175 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Gearbox choices consist of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic. The SUV is equipped with Frequency Selective Damping technology. It additionally shares the suspension layout used on the Thar Roxx. Furthermore, the 4XPLOR system provides off-road performance.

My View

Choosing between these two compelling SUVs from Mahindra is a matter of usage. If you like hardcore off-tarmac excursions and want a dependable and capable SUV with rugged off-roading abilities, the Scorpio N makes a lot of sense. It offers tons of new-age features, along with 4×4 capabilities to ensure that you get across any sort of terrain. On the other hand, if comfort and convenience are your priorities, and you only go for occasional off-road adventures, the new XUV 7XO should be your pick. I would advise our readers to experience the two in the flesh to make an informed decision.
