Mahindra XUV500 owners who could not get their hands on a brand new XUV700 can now use a conversion kit to beat the long waiting times

Unable to meet the unprecedented demand owing to the semiconductor shortage, Mahindra has now launched a conversion kit to transform the XUV500 into a the new XUV700 without having to shell out enormous money. Beware that you must have bought your XUV500 on or before April 1, 2020. If you have, then you are eligible to receive the magic kit by paying a nominal amount. Mahindra was having a hard time fulfilling the delivery orders for the thousands of bookings that are still pending. Semi-conductor chip shortage has affected production quite severely. This is a great opportunity for all the XUV500 owners who were wanting to update to the latest XUV700 but were put off by the huge waiting period.

The conversion kit consists of new components to tweak the headlamp cluster, front bumpers, flush-fitting door handles, alloy wheels, and vertically slated chrome front grille, along with the installation of cameras and radars to enable ADAS functions. The only issue is that the panoramic sunroof could not be installed due to obvious reasons. Digging a hole in the roof is not best for the safety capabilities of the mid-size SUV. Apart from that, the tail-end could be changed to the fibre gate to get the desired shape and the LED taillamps are also a part of the kit. Due to a limited number of kits available, make sure to get yours at the earliest or contact your nearest Mahindra dealership.

Specs

The Mahindra XUV700 comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that churns out a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Meanwhile, the Diesel engine is available in multiple states of tune. The lower versions get 155 PS and 360 Nm, while the higher positioned models benefit from 185 PS and 420 Nm (450 Nm in automatic variant). Both the petrol and diesel engine variants will be available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission choices. The prices of the mid-size SUV range between Rs 12.95 lakh and Rs 23.79 lakh, ex-showroom.
