Mahindra XUV700 Owner Sits in Passenger Seat in Moving Car

We have seen numerous instances of the ADAS system of the Mahindra XUV700 being misused on public roads jeopardizing the health and safety of everyone around.

Yet another case of the ADAS of Mahindra XUV700 being misused comes to the surface as the owner sits in the passenger seat while the vehicle keeps moving at 60 km/h. XUV700 became immensely successful in our market ever since its launch. The striking bold looks, latest tech features, premium cabin, powerful engines and 5-star safety rating are some of the main reasons making the SUV extremely desirable. Ironically, the ADAS system, which is meant to enhance the safety of the SUV, is becoming the exact reason for making it unsafe due to irresponsible activities by a few owners.

The video has been uploaded by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel. This channel featurings content around the performances of cars in unfortunate situations and road safety. This time around, a video has appeared where the owner of the XUV700 is seen sitting in the passenger seat with his back to the road. In the meantime, the SUV is being driven at around 60 km/h using the ADAS system. It allows the driver to set a speed and the car accelerates or decelerates according to the road conditions to maintain that speed.

This is an active safety feature that could intervene in critical situations where the driver doesn’t react quickly enough or is falling asleep behind the wheel. However, people have often been spotted misusing this feature and treating it as a substitute for the driver. They turn on the Adaptive Cruise Control feature on the highway and get engaged in other activities inside the car while losing attention on the road. There have been multiple cases of crashes because of that.

Road Safety

In inference, we would like to inform our readers to not promote or encourage such stupid acts on the road. These can be fatal not just for the person doing it, but also for others on the road for no fault of their own. In fact, if you spot someone doing such idiotic acts, make sure to report them to the authorities so that proper action could be taken against them. This is treated as a criminal offence as these people are risking the lives of others. Remember, ADAS is meant to compliment, and not substitute the driver.
