Mamba Green Skoda Octavia RS Sold Out Already – Watch its Scintillating Performance in Action-Packed Teaser

Skoda Octavia RS Mamba Green Sold Out

The Skoda Octavia RS has been a legendary performance vehicle, not just in India, but in many international markets around the globe since 2000

The new Skoda Octavia RS is already making headlines even before launching here. I understand that only 100 units have been allotted for India. However, according to our dealer-level sources, all Mamba Green-coloured Octavia RS sedans have already been sold out. Note that this is the signature colour for the performance vehicle, which was also on display at the Indian Auto Expo earlier this year. Unfortunately, we don’t have the exact colour-wise bifurcation to extract a number. Still, going by my experience, 100 units will fly off the shelves in no time.

Why Skoda Octavia RS Matters?

The Czech carmaker commenced its India operations back in 2001 with the Octavia. I remember distinctly, the sedan carried a premium image all throughout the 2000s. It offered a unique proposition for those who wanted a premium product with impressive performance without having to shell out huge bucks. In 2004, the fire-breathing RS version came into the country. Even after being in the market for over 20 years, the charm and appeal of this moniker is unparalleled. Skoda always brings it in India in limited numbers due to the homologation rules and ends up selling them out in no time. I have a strong feeling that this trend will recur this time around as well.

With an estimated price of around Rs 50 lakh, the Skoda Octavia RS will have no real direct rival. However, considering the expected price, performance and specifications, the VW Golf GTI looks like the only competitor. The Skoda Octavia RS will come with a powerful 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol unit that produces a colossal 265 hp and 370 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. The iconic 7-speed DSG automatic transmission propels the sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h. I am thrilled to see some hardcore performance elements like progressive steering, an electronic VAQ limited-slip differential, RS-specific adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), ventilated disc brakes, etc.

My View

I must admit it is hard not to be a fan of a legendary product like the Skoda Octavia RS regardless of where you live in the world. It offers incredible performance, unmatched driving dynamics and a rich legacy to the consumers. Many automobile aficionados remain loyal to this moniker despite its price tag. In all honesty, I consider its pricing to be extremely value-for-money because I would compare it with the luxury vehicles from the German trio. We know how expensive their performance variants can be. Hence, in this sense, paying around Rs 60 lakh, on-road, for what the Octavia RS offers is quite a bargain.

Having tracked the Octavia RS lineage since its debut in India, I can say this car has always punched above its weight – both in performance and cult appeal. The quick sell-out of the Mamba Green units reaffirms just how strong the RS fanbase remains. Skoda may bring it in limited numbers, but its impact is anything but.
