In this post, I am comparing the Maruti Brezza with the Mahindra XUV 3XO on the basis of specs, price and features. Since both these are priced almost similarly throughout their entire range, I am comparing the variants which are the closest to Rs 10 lakh. This price point will offer mid-level trims on both these compact SUVs. Generally, the second from the top, or just around the mid-level variants are considered the most value for money. Let us find out if that is the case here as well.
Maruti Brezza vs Mahindra XUV 3XO – Price Comparison
Taking a look at the range of the Maruti Brezza, I have chosen the Vxi trim. It has a price tag of Rs 9.70 lakh, ex-showroom. That is among the mid-trims in the range. Hence, the buyers will get a great balance between affordability and practicality. On the other hand, I have selected the MX3 Pro version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO which costs Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Hence, there is a Rs 29,000 gap between the two.
Price Comparison | Maruti Brezza (Vxi) | Mahindra XUV 3XO (MX3 Pro) | Difference |
Ex-Showroom | Rs 9.70 lakh | Rs 9.99 lakh | Rs 29,000 |
Maruti Brezza vs Mahindra XUV 3XO – Specs Comparison
Maruti Brezza comes with a single powertrain option but with two fuel types. There is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces a decent 103 hp and 138 Nm of peak power and torque. This mill pairs with either a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Apart from that, you could also get this same engine in a Bi-fuel option (Petrol + CNG). With that, the power and torque get reduced to 89 PS and 121.5 Nm, respectively. The CNG engine comes with a sole 5-speed manual transmission. The mileage figures are 17.38 kmpl (MT), 19.8 kmpl (AT) and 25.51 km/kg (CNG).
On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with three engine options – a 1.2-litre turbo petrol mill which generates a healthy 110 hp and 200 Nm, a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol which produces the best-in-segment 130 hp and 230 Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel powertrain which is good for 115 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AISIN-sourced automatic transmission in petrol versions or a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT AutoShift gearbox with the diesel. The MX3 Pro offers both options – less powerful turbo petrol and diesel.

Our View
It goes without saying that both these compact SUVs are quite popular in this segment. The competition in this category is quite fierce. Hence, features and pricing become extremely important to gain new customers. I feel choosing between these two distinct SUVs depends on your preference. On one hand, we have the Maruti Brezza. It is for those who want the peace of mind associated with the Maruti Suzuki brand. The performance is decent and there is a great balance between affordability and features. But if you want more features and a more powerful engine, then going for the XUV 3XO makes a lot of sense. In any case, I would recommend you go and take test drives of both these vehicles to see which one feels better. In any case, you can’t go wrong with either of these.
