It is shocking to see what transpires on Indian roads and this is a prime example of that
In an absolutely surprising turn of events, a Maruti Dzire is seen getting suspended mid-air after falling off an unconstructed bridge in Kerala. In the last few years, I have reported numerous instances of people encountering challenging situations on Indian roads. Unfortunately, our roads are infamous around the world for being extremely unpredictable and tough. There are many contributing factors to that. For now, let us delve into the details of this most recent case.
Maruti Dzire Falls Off an Unconstructed Bridge, Stuck in the Air
As per various news reports online, this incident took place in Kerala’s Kannur district on Sunday. The driver of the Maruti Dzire was allegedly drunk when he entered the flyover, which was still under construction. As a consequence, he fell off the bridge and the compact sedan was stuck between the concrete structure mid-air. Lasim, the driver, was a native of Kerala’s Malappuram district. The locals arranged a ladder to go up to the car and rescue him. Soon afterwards, the rescue operation team arrived to pull the vehicle out of its location.
Needless to say, a lot of people stood around the scene, especially when the car was being pulled out by a crane. Due to drunk driving, a case has been registered against Lasim. This video clip has been going viral on social media due to the strange occurrence. People are evidently mad at the drunk driver. This is one of those cases where he ended up causing harm to himself and the car. However, it could easily have been a case where unsuspecting road users could have got entangled.
My View
I would like to see the driver of the Maruti Dzire get the appropriate punishment for drunk driving. It is high time we start taking road safety seriously. That is the only way to improve the reputation of our roads. People flout traffic regulations all the time and often get away with it. Let us encourage everyone around us to always respect the rules. Also, if you find anyone breaking the rules, you must report them to the authorities so that proper action can be taken against them.

Having tracked Indian road safety trends for over a decade and a half, I can say this incident is yet another reminder of how fragile our traffic ecosystem remains. While infrastructure gaps are a concern, driver behaviour, especially drunk driving, continues to be the bigger threat on our roads. Incidents like this only reinforce the urgent need for stricter enforcement and greater civic responsibility. As always, I’ll keep highlighting such cases to push the conversation toward safer mobility in India.
