Maruti Suzuki is soon going to introduce a mid-life facelift for the Ignis compact crossover in India. Here is the complete list of upgrades that you can expect from it.
After giving its premium hatchback Baleno a mid-life facelift, Maruti Suzuki is now going to introduce a similar update of the Ignis compact crossover as well. On sale in India for almost 2 years, the Ignis started on a positive note but has since then not turned out to be a strong player for the Indo-Japanese automaker in the Indian market. The said update should provide the required shot in the arm for this highly practical and uniquely styled product for Maruti.
A report published in Autocar India states that the production of the current iteration of the Maruti Ignis has already come to an end. Nexa dealers have been told to continue accepting bookings for the current iteration. The report further states that the production of the new iteration of the Ignis has already commenced. Maruti Suzuki is yet to convey an official word regarding the same.

Just like the Baleno or any other facelift for that matter, the on of the Maruti Ignis is also going to involve minor cosmetic revisions. These are going to include the replacement of the current front bumper with the one that adorns a slightly different design. The front grille is likely to sport a new layout as well. The alloy wheels could feature a new design as well.
Inside the cabin, though the basic design layout will remain the same as before, Maruti could alter the upholstery design. The existing Smartplay infotainment system will be replaced with the its new iteration, the one which made its debut in the 2019 Maruti Wagon R and is also available on the Baleno facelift.

The engine specifications of the Maruti Ignis will remain the same as before. It will continue to be offered with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. This unit is capable of churning out 82 BHP of power along with 114 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option will include a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, there will be a 5-speed automatic unit on offer as well.
The Maruti Ignis, at the time of launch was also available with a 1.3-litre, DDiS diesel engine, the same unit which does its duty on the Swift and the Baleno. However, the same was discontinued from the portfolio due to lack of demand.
