Maruti has finally launched the S-Cross petrol in India which gets a 1.5 Litre petrol engine. The prices start at Rs 8.4 Lakhs.
The last car to be updated in the stable of Maruti Suzuki, S-Cross finally gets a BS6 compliant petrol engine. In the BS4 version, it only came with a diesel engine which was discontinued due to the emission norms. Now, it is a petrol-only SUV/crossover battling out with other compact SUVs like Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
The prices of Maruti S-Cross petrol commence at Rs 8.4 Lakhs, which makes it cheaper than the diesel version. Since the diesel engine came only with a manual gearbox, the S-Cross petrol manual is cheaper by nearly Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. Here’s variant wise price list:
|Delta||9.60 Lakhs||10.84 Lakhs|
|Zeta||9.95 Lakhs||11.85 Lakhs|
|Alpha||11.15 Lakhs||12.39 Lakhs|
The prices of automatic variants start at Rs 10.84 Lakhs going up to Rs 12.39 Lakhs, which is still very affordable. The crossover gets a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 104 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options include a 5-speed MT and a 4-speed AT. It also gets the SHVS mild-hybrid technology which features torque assist and brake regeneration.
Fuel efficiency of S-Cross petrol has been rated at 18.5 kmpl, which is the best in class figure. Other changes include the addition of Hill Hold Assist, new 7-inch Touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system with Live Traffic Updates, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, LED headlamps, rain sensing wipers and electric ORVMs.
Safety features on board include the same dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera and auto-dimming IRVMs. There’s no further change to the styling of the crossover. The bookings commenced weeks ago and the deliveries of Maruti S-Cross petrol are expected to commence in a week or two.
