The world-famous lightweight off-roading machine has been doing decently well on the sales charts internationally
The deliveries of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door have been briefly halted Down Under with immediate effect. Jimny is one of the biggest names in the world when it comes to legacy lightweight off-roaders. It has a history which stretches beyond 5 decades. However, the 5-door version of the Jimny was only launched a couple of years ago in India. From here, it has been exported to many countries. Essentially, it adds a huge practicality for the buyers in terms of usage, without compromising on the off-tarmac capabilities.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Deliveries Paused
As per the latest news reports, the 5-door iteration of the Suzuki Jimny is facing a stop-delivery order from the Suzuki Motor Corporation. While no specific reason has been mentioned, it is being said that due to an operational error, the carmaker has decided to pause sales. Now, it is most likely not for any safety reasons, because no announcement encapsulates a recall or asks customers to stop driving the SUV. Note that only the 5-door version is affected by this and the 3-door avatar continues to be on sale.
The Australian spec Suzuki Jimny 5-door is available with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 75 kW (102 PS) and 130 Nm of power and torque, respectively. There are options to choose from, either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. However, the key talking point is the hardcore 4×4 capabilities, ensuring impressive performance on all terrains. Apart from that, the interior offers the latest tech and convenience amenities including things like touchscreen infotainment system, steering controls, storage space, USB socket, automatic climate control with physical knobs, hard plastics on the dashboard and door panels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, decent space in the second row and a useable 211-litre boot space, etc.
My View
We know that car companies often take precautionary measures if they find issues with their products so that any damage to the customers can ideally be eliminated, or at least, minimized. The investigation is under process, and we will get to know about the real reason for this delivery stop in the coming days. For now, there is no order to stop using the car, which means that no safety concerns exist.
