The launch of Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol is scheduled for the month of August. It will get a 1.2 Litre petrol engine, along with a more powerful engine.
Maruti Vitara Brezza is expected to get a new petrol engine for a long time. Currently, it comes with a 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine, that also comes on other Maruti models as well.
Zigwheels now reports that the launch of Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol has been fixed for August 2019. As expected, the 1.2 Litre petrol engine from the smaller cars, but with a better tuning.
The dual-jet SHVS 1.2 petrol engine that comes on the Baleno, actually uses a smart-hybrid system. The engine will be BS-6 compliant right from the launch. But, it will also get another engine.
At the time of launch of Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol, we might see the 1.0 litre Boosterjet engine onboard the SUV as well. Currently, this engine comes on the Baleno RS.
The 1.2 Litre petrol engine produces 90 BHP and 113 Nm on tap. The boosterjet engine is more powerful, as it produces 102 BHP and 150 Nm of peak torque. The latter is a turbocharged petrol engine.
We expect a 5-speed manual gearbox to be standard, along with an AMT gearbox. The same setup could come on the turbo-petrol engine, as its new rival, Hyundai Venue offers one.
As of now, there is no idea on whether the diesel engine will come too. Going by Maruti’s last statement, the 1.3 Litre and the new 1.5 Litre diesel engines will be discontinued post BS-6.
Possibly, the Vitara Brezza could get the diesel engine till April 2020. Later sometime, the 1.5 Litre diesel engine with BS-6 compliant will come on all the diesel-friendly models.
With this, we expect the starting prices of Vitara Brezza to further come down. In its only diesel engine, it is priced from Rs 7.68 Lakhs to Rs 10.65 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It will continue to rival the likes of Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and the latest entrant, Hyundai Venue.
