The full-grown Mercedes AMG G63 SUV has been launched in India. The off-roader SUV gets a retuned engine, cosmetic changes, and some feature additions.ย
New Mercedes AMG G63 has been launched in India. The SUV comes with a price tag of whopping Rs 2.19 Crore. The new generation off-roader receives cosmetic upgrades and a more powerful engine. From the whole G-Class range, the Indian market gets only the AMG spec. The first G-Class SUV came 40 years back and back then, it was one of the most popular SUVs. Also, G-Class SUVs have always maintained its boxy looks, the iconic round headlamps and the bold stance in every model.
The Mercedes AMG G63 continues with the 4.0 Litre V8 Biturbo engine. However, it is retuned and now delivers 585 BHP power as opposed to 544 HP in the previous model. The engine produces monstrous 850 Nm of torque.

The SUV touches 0-100 km/hr in just 4.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest SUVs. It achieves this figure despite having a weight of 2,485 Kgs. The top speed of the Mercedes AMG G63 is electronically limited to 220 km/hr and 240 km/hr with AMG driver’s package.
For transmission duties, the off-roader uses AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, which has a model specific software application for shorter gearshift times. Forย speed-bursts, it comes with ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport Plus’ modes. The AMG Ride Control suspension set-up comes with adaptive adjustable damping, making it more off-road material.

The Mercedes AMG G63 gets five on-road driving modes –ย Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. Also on offer is 3 off-roading modes –ย Sand, Trail, and Rock.
On the exterior, it gets side-mounted exhaust pipes, LED headlamps, the iconic round headlamps, high bonnet, and continued door hinges. Inside the cabin, it gets Mercedes Widescreen Cockpitย with 12.3-inch MIDs,ย Burmester surround sound system with 15 speakers,ย New COMAND online system,ย Park Pilot with 3600 surround view camera andย Exclusive Interior package with Nappa leather upholstery.

Safety features onboard the G63 includes 9-airbags, active brake assist, and lane keeping assistance as standard fitments. Mercedes also offers optional driving assistance pack, which gets cruise control and a blind spot monitoring system.
