Riding high on the back of a hugely successful 2015 campaign, Mercedes-Benz India is looking to start 2016 where it left off. Having already launched the GLE 450 AMG Coupe in January, MBIL heads to the 2016 Auto Expo with a handful of new cars. A new SUV and a cabriolet have made their debut the event, but Mercedes-Benz’s pavilion has a lot more to look forward to. Unfortunately, the 2017 E-Classย did not show its face at the Auto Expo as India will not be getting the sedan until the early part of 2017. Here’s the lowdown on Mercedes Cars at Auto Expo 2016 with expected launch dates, prices and specifications.

Mercedes Cars at Auto Expo 2016 – Mercedes GLC India Launch
MBIL showcased the GLC SUV at the Auto Expo, which will be launched in India this year. The GLC is essentially the new generation GLK and slots in between the GLA and GLE SUVs. In India, it will compete with the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Land Rover Discovery Sport.

Prices will start at around INR 45-48 lacs. It will be available in 220d and 250d variants when launched.

Both the variants, the 220d and the 250d, will be powered by Merc’s 2.1-litre diesel. The former boasts of a power output of 168 bhp while the latter gets 201 bhp.

Mercedes Cars at Auto Expo 2016 – Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet Indiaย Debut
The S-Class cabriolet will join its sedan and coupe siblings in India this year. It made its India debut at the Auto Expo followed by a launch soon afterward. As expected, the S-Cabriolet won’t come cheap as it will be imported to India via the CBU route.

Keeping in mind the S-Coupe’s INR 2.06 Cr price tag, the Cabriolet will cost around INR 2.3 Cr. (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

It will be powered by the same 455 bhp-700 Nm 4663 cc petrol engine that powers the S500 coupe. ย It gets AWD as standard and a 7-speed automatic.

Accompanying the GLC and S-Class Cabriolet was Mercedes-AMG’s Championship winning W05 Formula 1 car. Other vehicles in their lineup were there including their current India range of SUVs and Sedans along with the AMG GT S and other AMG products.
