The mid-size SUV from JSW MG Motor India boasts tons of unique abilities in comparison to its peers
The MG Astor is an attractive mid-size SUV which rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and many more in India. This is arguably the most competitive category in our market. Vehicles from almost all major companies are present in this space. Astor has not been having a great time on the sales charts due to stiff competition. That is why the car marque has equipped it with tons of new-age amenities at enticing price points. The aim is to attract new buyers who are looking for value-for-money options. Let us take a look at the details of this case here.
MG Astor
To make things exciting for the customers, the MG Astor possesses tons of unique elements. For instance, it is the only mid-size SUV to offer a 10-inch infotainment display and a panoramic sunroof under Rs 12.50 lakh. Note that the infotainment display is standard across the range, while the panoramic sunroof starts from the ‘Shine’ trim. Furthermore, it is the only SUV in its class to have a 1.5-litre mill with automatic transmission and wireless charging under Rs 15 lakh in its ‘Sharp Pro’ variant. Also, the Astor is the only mid-size SUV on sale to get heated ORVMs.
MG Motor India has introduced updates to its Astor SUV for the 2025 model year. Called the ‘Blockbuster SUV’, the new edition brings two fresh variants – Shine and Select. Prices start at Rs 11.30 lakh, ex-showroom. The updated Astor is available with a VTi-TECH engine and comes in both manual and CVT options. It now includes over 50 safety features, including 14 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Inside, the SUV offers premium interiors and a panoramic sunroof. New features include ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, and support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The auto-dimming rear-view mirror adds extra convenience. The updated i-SMART 2.0 system includes more than 80 connected features. It now supports JIO Voice Recognition, which allows voice commands for weather updates, news, cricket scores, dictionary access, and more. A Digital Key feature and an anti-theft system help ensure safety, even without a network connection. With these additions, MG aims to enhance both the driving experience and the vehicle’s practicality. The only thing remaining to see is how much impact these will have on its sales going forward.
