The two roadsters in this post belong to two different eras in terms of powertrain options
In this post, we compare the MG Cyberster and BMW Z4 in terms of price, features and specs. Note that the MG roadster bears an electric heart, whereas the Z4 is an ICE model. In essence, it is the clash of the generations. Roadsters are not all that common in India. The main reason for this is the extreme weather conditions. In summer, in most parts of the country, it is too hot, while in the northern regions, the winters can be extremely harsh. Secondly, the unfortunate situation with air and noise pollution makes convertible roadsters almost unusable. Still, there are at least two compelling propositions for the interested buyers.
MG Cyberster vs BMW Z4 – Price Comparison
The new MG Cyberster bears an introductory price tag of Rs 74.99 lakh for fresh bookings, and Rs 72,49 lakh for pre-reserved bookings. It is available in a single fully-loaded variant. Pricing is inclusive of 3.3 kW portable charger, 7.4 kW wall box charger and standard
installation. On the other hand, the BMW Z4 starts at Rs 92.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 97.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Hence, the Cyberster has a clear edge in this regard.

MG Cyberster vs BMW Z4 – Specs Comparison
Let us start with the newest kid on the block, the MG Cyberster. It comes with a 77 kWh battery with a thickness of just 110 mm (Industry’s Slimmest Battery Pack), which offers a range of 580 km (MIDC) on a single charge. However, the biggest talking point is the power and torque figures of 510 PS and 725 Nm, respectively, courtesy of a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Also, the slipper body allows a drag coefficient of just 0.269, which enables a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.2 seconds. For the first owner, there is a lifetime warranty on the battery. It stops from 100 km/h in just 33 mm, highlighting the performance of the Brembo 4-piston front brake callipers.

On the other hand, the BMW Z4 uses a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo petrol mill, which is good for a healthy 340 hp and 500 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. This mill pairs with either an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds and 4.6 seconds, respectively. In the M40i guise, there are Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes and M Sport differential.

As we can see from the aforementioned aspects, both these luxury roadsters are extremely well kitted. Hence, choosing between them can be quite tricky. Nevertheless, I believe the final decision will boil down to whether or not the potential owners are willing to go for an EV. If they wish to own an ICE vehicle, the BMW Z4 is the only option. However, if that is not a valid point, going for the Cyberster entails a huge cost saving, availability of new-age tech and one of the most beautiful EVs in the world. In any case, one can’t go wrong with either of these.
