The MINI Countryman Black Edition is based on the Cooper S JCW variant and it gets an all-black treatment on the inside and outside and is priced Rs. 1 lakh more than the standard car.
Keeping up with the festive season in the country, MINI has launched a limited edition variant of the Countryman called the Black Edition and it has been priced at Rs. 42.40 lakh, ex-showroom. The MINI Countryman Black Edition will just be limited to 24 units for the Indian market and it is based on the Cooper S John Cooper Works (JCW) inspired variant and commands a premium of Rs. 1 lakh over the standard model.
As the name already suggests, this Countryman comes draped in black and gets several cosmetic changes as well. The visual differences for the Countryman Black Edition include a new black grille, JCW carbon fibre finished ORVMs, piano black trim for the headlight and taillights, and even a piano black Countryman moniker on the tailgate. The car also gets bonnet stripes which have also been finished in black and the roof rails too get some black treatment. The car rides on 18-inch JCW alloy wheels with run-flat tyres.
The Mini Countryman Black Edition also comes with several features and equipment upgrade on the inside. It gets a new head-up display, Mini wired package, electric sports seats, panoramic glass roof and a sound system by Harman and Kardon. The cabin also comes draped in an all-black color scheme with the JCW steering wheel and interior trim. This being a sportier model, it also gets a JCW aero kit, automatic tailgate access, memory function for the seats and more as part of the package.

The Countryman Black Edition remains mechanically unchanged however. It is continued to be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 189 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifter. This not so mini MINI can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 7.5 seconds.

The Countryman is MINI’s one of better selling models in India and its aggressive price tag can certainly be credited for that. It competes with the likes of the BMW X1, the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the Audi Q3, and the Volvo XC40 but it does stand out in the crowd with a typical MINI quirkiness that is hard not to appreciate.
