The new gen Hyundai Verna 2017 delivers a peak mileage of 17.70 KMPL for the petrol and 24.75 KMPL for the Diesel engine variants. In India, the new Verna is expected to launch in a price range of Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh. It will rival the likes of Maruti Ciaz and Honda City. Like we have been saying, the new Hyundai Verna 2017 will go on sale with two engine options – 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre Diesel. Both these engines will be mated to 6-speed Manual and Automatic transmissions. The new Verna offers many new features. Hyundai has been known to offer segment-best features on its cars and the 2017 model of the popular Korean C-segmenter is no different. The manual transmission variant of the new car offers a mileage of 17.70 KMPL. The automatic petrol returns an average fuel economy of 15.92 KMPL. On the other hand, the Diesel models, as expected, as far more fuel efficient. The manual transmission variant of the 2017 Verna Diesel has a mileage of 24.75 KMPL. The automatic model offers 21.02 KMPL of peak mileage. There is quite a difference between the mileage figures of the Manual and Automatic transmissions. The new 2017 Hyundai Verna mileage is lower for automatic models as the new car gets a fuel-sapping torque converter automatic transmission.

While official prices won’t be out before tomorrow, we have a fair idea of what the new car will cost. There are good chances that the prices of the new model will start at Rs 9 lakh. The fully-loaded model could cost almost Rs 14 lakh. We are pretty sure that the new car will be costlier than the outgoing model. However, the increase in price will be justified through the modern exterior and interior look, more features, updated engines, and higher interior space. The new Verna is definitely more stylish than the City and the Ciaz. However, it will be interesting to see if the car is so good that it makes new car buyers ignore the very attractively priced Ciaz.

The new 2017 Verna offers two engine options – a petrol and a Diesel. Both these engines come from the outgoing car but have been suitably re-tuned. The new car offers – a 1.6-litre, Naturally Aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.6-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder Diesel. Out of these, the petrol engine boats Variable timing technology and the Diesel engine has a variable geometry turbo. Both the motors produce high power and torque figures. The petrol engine outputs 123 BHP and 155 Nm. The Diesel motor pumps out 126 BHP and 260 Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed Manual and a 6-speed Automatic. Both the engines offer sufficiently high mileage figures for the kind of power they have on offer.
Another highlight of the new car’s specifications is what Hyundai calls ‘SUPER BODY STRUCTURE’. In essence, the new look Hyundai Verna comes with an Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) body structure that is made from Hot stamping Applications. This helps the new car offer a best-in-class rigidity. This special body structure also helps the car to have a low kerb weight, which in turn optimizes performance and mileage.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna is larger than the previous generation car. The new car is as much as 15 mm longer and a full 29 mm wider than the outgoing model. The new car’s wheelbase is 10 mm longer. Its boot space is higher by 16-litres.
