The new-gen Kia Seltos is bigger, more feature-laden and much bolder than the existing version
As the new 2026 Kia Seltos was unveiled a few days ago, we got the chance to experience it in the flesh at the official media drive. The Seltos continues to be one of the most popular and highly sought-after mid-size SUVs in the Indian market. Introduced in 2019, it marked Kia’s entry into India and has since been instrumental in establishing the brand’s strong foothold in the country. The model played a significant role in helping Kia become the fastest automobile manufacturer to surpass the 1-million (10 lakh) sales milestone in India, a feat achieved in just 59 months. Pricing details for the new-generation Seltos are yet to be disclosed. For now, here are our thoughts about the mid-size SUV.
New 2026 Kia Seltos Review – Exterior Styling
Inspired by the ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the new 2026 Kia Seltos is bigger, bolder and more masculine than the current-gen model. The front fascia is more upright, the Tiger Nose grille is massive, and the grille is flanked by prominent and sleek LED DRLs on the edges. Interestingly, the main LED headlamps are neatly nestled between the DRLs and the grille. The kind of headlamp setup on offer will depend on the variant. Down below, the bumper looks immensely sporty and aggressive, courtesy of the skid plate and sturdy elements around the fog lamps.
Moving down the sides reveals piano black finish on the wheel arch claddings, where the side parking sensors are also housed. There are 4 wheel options to choose from. Furthermore, the flush-fitting door handles lend it a modern appeal. Other bits include adventurous side body cladding, black side pillars, faux roof rails and a unique third quarter. Finally, the tail section encapsulates connected LED taillamps, a dark silver skid plate, and an eminent roof-mounted spoiler with aerodynamic traits. Overall, the global design philosophy certainly shines through.

The latest-generation Kia Seltos retains the same set of powertrain options as its predecessor, with no mechanical revisions introduced. It continues to be offered with familiar engine choices, including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motor. These engines produce outputs of 115 PS with 144 Nm of torque, 160 PS with 253 Nm, and 116 PS with 250 Nm, respectively. Contrary to earlier speculation, the updated Seltos does not feature a hybrid powertrain at the moment. Driving Impressions
I got behind the steering wheel of the new 2026 Kia Seltos to gauge the driving dynamics. The first thing I noticed is just how plush and comfortable the ride feels due to the suspension tuning. What’s even more impressive is that the Korean auto giant has been able to achieve this without compromising on the handling. The steering is quite sharp and direct, making the ride confidence-inspiring and sure-footed. Even the braking has been improved.
The sound insulation is great and the occupant will barely feel any unwanted noise or potholes. The new suspension setup and the new chassis certainly make the car feel stiffer and comfortable at the same time. Moreover, the buyers get to choose from 2 petrol and 1 diesel mills, along with manual and automatic transmissions. The performance with each of these combinations is adequate and you won’t ever feel anything lacking, regardless of where you are driving the SUV. All in all, I loved my time driving the new Seltos and am confident that the buyers will feel the same.
