The Indian automobile giant has been testing the new SUV for a few days now, sparking curiosity on the internet
The new-gen Mahindra Bolero has been spotted testing yet again. Interestingly, Mahindra invited a bunch of car reviewers from Australia a few days ago. The Mahindra officials confirmed to the Aussie media that it is working on a monocoque version of the Thar, which is temporarily called the Thar Sports. We might witness it on August 15, 2025. Now it remains to be seen whether this will be the same SUV as the new-gen Bolero or an entirely new SUV. In any case, let us look at the details of the spied car here.
New-Gen Mahindra Bolero Spied Tested
These images surfaced online courtesy of Motowagon_ on Instagram. The visuals capture the tail profile of the SUV. This includes a high-mount stop light, taillamps on the extreme edges of the body, a bootlid-mounted spare tyre, an upright stance and a sporty bumper. The spare tyre also reveals the elegant alloy wheel design, which indicates a modern appeal. In these photos, the front or side section is not visible. Nevertheless, we can expect the boxy silhouette, which is reminiscent of the existing Bolero.
Since the Bolero Neo caters to a slightly urban population who want a tough and rugged SUV without spending a fortune, that is reflected on the inside as well. The current-gen model gets some useful highlights and amenities in comparison to the regular Bolero. Since the new-gen Bolero could be more upmarket, we can anticipate tons of new-age functionalities and slightly premium materials. This will elevate the overall vibe of the cabin.
Expected Specs
The existing Mahindra Bolero Neo uses a decent 1.5-litre 3-cylinder mHawk 100 turbo diesel engine. It outputs a healthy 100 PS of maximum power and 260 Nm of peak torque. Performing the transmission duties is a 5-speed manual gearbox, sending power to the rear wheels. I am excited to see if the new Bolero swaps this engine with the turbo petrol and larger turbo diesel powertrains, which are available with the Thar. More details will emerge closer to the launch.
