The Hero-Harley partnership has yielded yet another 440 motorcycle after the X440, which was launched more than 2 years ago
The new Harley Davidson X440 T has officially been unveiled for our market. Since it is, essentially, a distinct iteration of the regular X440, there are a lot of similarities. Nevertheless, the X440 T distinguishes itself from the regular 440 with some aesthetic elements, as well as a tweaked features list. Let us check out what’s new in the new Harley Davidson X440 T.
New Harley Davidson X440 T Makes Debut
The main point of the difference between the new X440 T and the regular X440 lies at the rear end. The former bears a more angular appearance with a streamlined cowl, bridging the weird gap between the wheel and the fender on the X440. In fact, that was a huge cause of concern for the automotive experts and potential bike buyers on the X440. In addition to that, the seat has been redesigned for better comfort and the pillion gets chunkier grab handles. Also, the bike bears bar-end mirrors, a black front fender and redesigned exhaust.
Furthermore, the motorcycle will be available in 4 colour options – Blue, White, Red and Black. Taking care of the aesthetics is the Harley-Davidson X440 T livery on the tank and side panels carry chequered flag-style graphics. In terms of the amenities, the new X440 T gets a circular 3.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and navigation.
Specs
Even though no official announcement is available with the new Harley Davidson X440 T with regard to the specifications, it is most likely to carry the same mill as its X440 avatar. This includes the 440-cc single-cylinder, air-oil-cooled engine, which generates 27 hp and 38 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The visuals even indicate a lack of visible throttle cable, which points to a ride-by-wire system. As a result, we might witness things like ride modes, traction control, etc. It will use a Tubular Steel Trellis frame with USD front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Finally, the regular X440 ranges from Rs 2.40 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh, ex-showroom. The X440 T could bear a marginal premium over this price.

Having tracked the Harley-Hero collaboration since its inception, I see the X440T as a much-needed refinement rather than just another variant. The revised tail section finally addresses the biggest design sore point buyers flagged with the original X440, and that alone will improve showroom appeal. If the hinted ride-by-wire and electronic aids make it to production, Harley could have a stronger foothold in the premium entry-level segment. Pricing, however, will be crucial, anything beyond a moderate premium risks pushing potential buyers toward the well-established 350-450cc rivals.
