It may be noted here that the new Verna went on sale in India with 1.6-litre Petrol and Diesel engines. While this makes the latest generation one of the most powerful cars in its segment, the Verna pretty much fails to enjoy a price advantage over the segment-leader, the Ciaz. Now, with the launch of the new Hyundai Verna 1.4 petrol models, the company can hope to bring down the base price to a considerable extent.

There are very good chances that the new petrol engine variant would launch before the end of this month. While the company hasn’t been vocal about the launch date, various reports abounding the cyberspace hint at a launch date in the third week of this month.

There are really good chances that prices of the new 2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 Petrol model would start at roughly Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). This should give the Korean sedan a better chance at attractive away potential customers from the Ciaz. It’s being said that the upcoming petrol model would be available only in the entry- and mid-level trim. This is being done to keep prices in check. Currently, prices of the Verna start at over Rs 8 lakh.

There are good chances that the new Hyundai Verna 1.4 Petrol models will be kitted out with a 1.4-litre MPi Kappa petrol engine. This engine belts out a maximum power of 100 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 132 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine will likely offer two transmission options – 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.
