The upcoming breed of SUVs from the Indian auto giant looks promising and modern
The new Mahindra Vision S has been spotted performing a road test recently. Mahindra announced four fresh concepts a few months ago, representing its future SUVs. These are Vision S, Vision T, Vision X and Vision SXT. Each of these bears a dedicated body type and application to cater to a wide range of potential customers. In the coming years, we will witness the production-spec versions of each of these concepts. For now, let us check out what the Vision S entails.
Mahindra Vision S Spied Testing
The latest visuals capture the heavily camouflaged SUV parked at an isolated location. In fact, there are other test mules from Mahindra alongside the Vision S. These include the Thar facelift and Scorpio N pickup truck. Sticking to the Vision S, we can expect a sub-4m rugged SUV based on the new NU IQ platform. In fact, the recent reports even suggest that the Vision S might be the Thar Sports or the new-gen Bolero Neo. This indicates that the dimensions of this vehicle will be compact, while featuring the new-age Mahindra design philosophy, tech and features.
On the outside, the Mahindra Vision S is likely to carry a sturdy appearance with thick body claddings, solid skid plates, muscular body components and an upright bonnet and stance. On the inside, the modern cabin could offer a dual display layout (infotainment display and instrument cluster), wireless smartphone connectivity, panoramic sunroof, premium upholstery and much more. Finally, the modular platform can support ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains, which makes the vehicles mighty attractive. More details will emerge in the coming months.
My View
The Vision S is looking like a key product among the next-gen vehicles from Mahindra. It will incorporate new-age tech, connectivity and convenience amenities, along with the flexibility of multiple powertrain options, with relatively compact dimensions. Hence, I suspect that the value-for-money quotient of the Vision S will be its unique selling proposition. Let us keep an eye out for more details in the times to come.

From what we’re seeing, Vision S could be one of Mahindra’s most strategically important future launches, especially in the sub-4m space where rugged appeal still sells. If this indeed morphs into a Thar Sport or a new-gen Bolero Neo, Mahindra will be tapping into a loyal, utility-focused buyer base while adding modern tech and platform flexibility. The NU IQ architecture is the real enabler here, allowing Mahindra to future-proof the product. Pricing and positioning will ultimately decide how disruptive Vision S becomes.
