Updated on 03.07.2026 – The new Renault Kwid facelift has finally been launched in India. It comes with minor aesthetic updates and a more attractive price tag than the outgoing model. That is something not quite common in the industry. Nevertheless, it serves as a great marketing stunt to capture the attention of customers. The entry-level hatchback now starts at Rs 4.53 lakh and tops out at Rs 5.61 lakh, ex-showroom. In fact, the price difference Rs 13,000. This is sure to attract new buyers. Note that the Kwid facelift is available in two variants – Evolution and Climber with manual and AMT gearbox options.

Talking about the changes, the exterior gets new 3D Renault badges, a new Kwid badge on the boot lid, halogen headlamps and redesigned two-tone wheel caps. On the inside, the top amenities include 6 airbags, a rear view camera, 3-spoke steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, etc.
Another thing which has been carried over from the outgoing model is what lies underneath the bonnet. This means a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill that is capable of generating a familiar 68 hp and 92.5 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. As mentioned previously, the transmission duties are carried out by a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. It remains to be seen how well the customers embrace it.

On the outside, the new Kwid could borrow design cues from the Dacia Spring EV, available on sale in international markets. Hence, it could get things like new Y-shaped LED DRLs, Y-shaped taillamps, halogen headlamps, a new set of alloy wheels, and redesigned front and rear bumpers. Similarly, on the inside, the features list will be extensive with aspects like a large (approximately 10-inch) touchscreen infotainment display, 6 airbags, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, music system, etc. All these aspects will entice new buyers.
The one aspect which is likely to remain unchanged is what lies under the hood. It will most likely continue to draw power from a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill, which generates a decent 68 hp and 91 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties is either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. At present, the prices range from Rs 4.30 lakh to Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom. However, the facelift version could bear a slight premium over these prices.
